Direct Thermal Printers do not use ribbons. Thermal or Direct Thermal printing produces a printed image by selectively heating coated thermochromic (thermal) paper. Direct Thermal labels are ideal for applications requiring a short shelf life. Environments that expose the labels to heat, direct sunlight or abrasion are not ideal for Direct Thermal. Thermal Transfer labels are recommended for long-life image stability. We offer many different Thermal Transfer label options on this website.
